Moroso Italian Ristorante — A Wood-Fired Return Worth Waiting For Nearly ten years had passed since my last visit to Moroso, back when it was still called Moroso Wood Fired Pizzeria. I arrived just after 11:00 a.m., took a seat near the bar with a clear view of the massive wood-fired oven, and for a little while had the place almost to myself. By the time I left, the dining room was filling up. Timing matters. I started with the Calamari Fritta, and this was some of the best calamari I’ve had since a memorable plate years ago in Dallas. The platter came loaded with both rings and tentacle pieces, flash-fried with a light, craggy coating that stayed crisp without becoming heavy. Most importantly, the calamari itself was tender—no rubber-band chewiness anywhere. The pepperoncini scattered throughout the plate were more than garnish. Their acidic little kick cut through the richness of the fry, while the lemon and lemon-tarragon aioli brought another layer of brightness. One bite plain, another with pepperoncini, another with aioli—the plate kept changing. This place was really good Im tough on places this expensive but it was actually worth the money. The owner touched every table and was a pleasure to talk to service was pretty good we had a reservation but still had to wait about 15 minutes but again I enjoyed it very much. I got the Cipolla pizza it was fantastic I came back the next day for another one friend got the fettuccine Pasta it was very good Calamari was fresh the Arancini was really good as well Its my new Favorite place in waco.

We stopped by Moroso’s for dinner one night, and there were so many items on the menu that looked amazing that we agreed to come back. We shared the toasted bread, then I got the chicken piccata while my partner had the chicken parmesan, and both dishes were delicious! We added sides of pasta to those as well, which of course many of the dishes are actually gluten free, and not including the pasta helps keep away from gluten allergies so stars for extra dietary accommodation! 🌟 I also tried my first espresso martini, and it did not disappoint, it was delicious! My fiancé really enjoyed his old fashioned as well. He’s been ranking the restaurants based on their old fashioned around Waco, and he put Moroso’s at #2 overall! Even though the restaurant was busy, we were seated fairly quickly, our server was sweet, and the restaurant itself was very clean. We’re already planning another visit to try the pizzas and sample more of the drinks!

Moroso Italian delivers truly authentic Italian cuisine. Had the Margherita pizza and it was amazing. Moroso does a great job with authentic Italian food, and their Neapolitan style pizza is some of the best I’ve had. The crust was light and flavorful, the ingredients tasted fresh, and everything came together perfectly. Great atmosphere and great food. I’ll definitely be back.

I rarely ever leave reviews, but this place deserves it! We were in town for 1 night touring TSTC with our son and decided on dinner here based on their authentic pizza using imported Italian flour (the only kind I can eat). Our server, Reed, was amazing offering suggestions on both wine and food and spent a few minutes chatting with our son about college life in Waco. The pizzas were amazing, the prices were very fair and the service was top notch! I will definitely be back if we are in the area.
